Good product for the money
We installed this CAT security shield on a Prius and have used it for more than a year. This shield is sturdy. We do hear the shield rattles a bit now and then while car’s engine is on and idling. When we drive the car, we don’t hear the rattling noise. The rattling noise is minimum. We are happy with the product.

Peace of mind
Instead of climbing under the car, I took it to my mechanic and had him throw my ‘05 Prius on lift. The predrilled holes were lined up perfectly. I had him use self tapping screws. I’m sure you can do a diy version and get under, but he was able to do it in 5 minutes. I had him change my oil at the same time. LolI don’t hear any type of rattling of air noise like some other reviewers said. Plus, there was at least two inches of space between the plate and the cat. We didn’t have to use the 2x4 block to create space. Maybe I got lucky and my year Prius had room.At least it will make thieves think twice about having to unscrew all the bolts, take down the plate, and start cutting. Thats too much noise and too much time under the car. I feel a lot better having this on considering all the thefts happening. Especially in shopping centers in broad daylight.

Good product, but thieves bypass it
We have two Priuses. One of them had its Cat stolen a couple of years ago and we bought these to protect the replacement (and the other car). Expert install went smoothly. Rivets and screws and we were told the thieves would be so upset.Well, last night around 2am, the thieves stopped out front, tilted the car, and somehow got around the plate. Talked to the shop, and it sounds like the plates are no longer a deterrent. They've had several other plate-protected cars have their Cats re-stolen.I still have no idea how they did it, but yep, gone.I'm not saying this has no value or isn't worth the money. But I think we need to find additional measures to take.

Protecting my new catalytic converter after someone stole the original one from my car
I liked that it was big enough to cover my replacement catalytic converter after someone broke into my car and stole the original from my car it was so devastating but this cover here is what protects my expensive replacement. So for everyone out there who has went thru what I have I recommend getting this because it will give up back the peace of mind as it did me. Thank you Amazon for having this product when I most needed it. The it was very economical. Great buy for my family and I.

Great product so far at a fine price
My catalytic converter was stolen off my 2008 Toyota Prius twice in 5 months. I found this solution so I wanted to give it a try. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I installed the Cat security myself. The install was very easy. I followed the install instructions as written and they were very easy to follow and well written. The install took me less than an hour and I was happy with how it turned out. I have not noticed any sort of now noise or any decrease in gas mileage. I have had it on for over a month now and still have my catalytic converter. Yay! *knocks on wood* I guarantee some thief has looked under my car since I installed it and thought it wasn't worth the time or risk. This is a great deterrent and not a sure way to protect you cat. Like every other lock, someone could still steal it if they really tried. I would recommend this product to all Prius owners especially with how these thefts have been on the rise.

Instalation is not as easy as expected
The product instructions are pretty easy to understand. Would be very easy on a hydraulic lift. The Prius has one of the lowest ground clearances and even taking it as high as my floor jack would go it is a tight fit to get under the car. The first step is to remove 3 - 10mm nuts at the front, unfortunately all 3 of mine broke off, leaving me no way to support the shield. I ended up drilling additional holes in the shield and using SS self drilling screws to support the shield. The rest was fairly easy, I had to use a right angle drill due to the tight quarters. It would have been nice if they gave a couple extra rivets, 2 of mine did not catch and I ended up putting in screws. The note about using a piece of 2 x 4 was dead on and gave good clearance. Happy with the product. Total time 3 hours which includes getting out the tools, lifting the vehicle, installation, dropping the vehicle and clean up

We'll see....
After I had my cat solen a few months ago, I immediately ordered this product. I could have installed it myself, but had the shop that replaced my cat do the work. They pre-charged me 2 hours to install. They said it took nearly 4 hours to install. The rivets that come with this are (in the shops opinion) sub-standard. Half of them broke during the installation. They used more professional-grade ones, and said it'll take an act of God to get this thing off now (which I was pleased to hear).I'm hopeful this will solve the theft issue until local/state/federal authorities actually make the punishment for stealing these more severe. It'd be nice if they caught the people responsible AND made them pay restitution to ME for my out of pocket expense. I didn't appreciate spending over half my stimulus check to get a new cat that never should have been stolen in the first place... but oh well.

CAT security product covers the CAT very well
I installed the CAT shield myself. I'm not a professional mechanic. It was a little difficult, but it's doable. You will need a rivet gun and drill. You can buy a rivet gun for $15 or so at Auto zone. Make sure you can fit a 3/16" rivet in the gun. The security screws took some time to install. You have to be patient and use a hand tool flat head screw driver to screw in the security screws. If you try to screw in the security screw to fast you will likely strip the security screw. I had to remove one security screw with pliers because I stripped it by turning it too fast. I believe I drilled a pilot hole with a 5/32" drill bit, then I screwed in the security screw with the hand tool. Finally, I did put a 2 x 4 wood between the CAT and the shield. I highly recommend you do the same.
