Prince: Life and Times: Revised and Updated Edition

I love this book. Aside from it being a GREAT coffee table book complete with beautiful full-color photos (many of him in concert), it is just downright interesting. I especially love the timeline fold-outs and the pull-out pieces on Prince's protégés and side projects. Compared to 21 Nights, I think this book is complementary. 21 Nights offers a look into Prince's world as he sees it, allowing the images (and poems/lyrics) to tell the story of a brief segment of his life on tour. Prince: Life & Times tells Prince's story from the beginning up until the London O2 concerts. The only slight drawback is that the author is quite opinionated about Prince's work (as most of us are), and he sometimes seems like he is making value judgments, rather than allowing the readers to just read the facts and form our own opinions. However, this is not overdone in any way and is certainly not worth docking a star from this review. I completely recommend this book to the music lover. Prince certainly has an interesting story. But beware, your guests may come attached to it if you display it on your coffee table!

The best book on Prince that I've read; it's completely updated to April 21st. A very fair book that doesn't make him out to be a saint but doesn't crucify him like Possessed (whose author was involved in a lawsuit with him). I loved the backstories on his recordings and, while I've seen some before, the pictures were great. My only complaint is that it's very large like a coffee table book.

I was thinking the book would be on the smaller size.But it is not! Nice big heavy book, could be a coffee table book.Gorgeous book, great stories, beautiful photos.Perfect for the Purple Army or anyone interested in Prince.

I am really enjoying this book. It is full of interesting facts. I have it on audible and the person reading it has a rather monotone voice. However, I prefer that since I really want to focus on facts right now. I highly recommend this to any Prince fan who wants to know more about Prince the person with an amazing drive, unwillingness to compromise (at times to his detriment), incredible musical talents, and who kept pushing the envelope. He made some folks angry at him along the way, but he was also so prolific and talented that those around him just could not keep up. He was truly a genius and our Mozart for our times. RIP.

Prince was music! A great read!

I bought this for my daughter who is a huge Prince fan. She loved it! I have to say how nice this book is though, very well made with beautiful color pictures. Very quality.

This is a Prince Collectors MUST HAVE!Way better quality than I thought it would be. Gorgeous large hard back. I cried. It's beautiful.
