Pimsleur Tagalog Level 1 CD: Learn to Speak and Understand Tagalog with Pimsleur Language Programs (1) (Comprehensive)

Good value
I was able to find comprehensive programs to learn Tagalog - this one, and Rosetta Stone. Both programs appeared to be comparable in terms of content, but a used version of the Pimsleur program seemed to provide the best value. If you choose this program, be prepared to listen to each of the lectures more than once. At times the pace can be a little bit too quick to catch it all the first time around.

Awesome!! My wife likes that I can speak Tagalog now
Married my Filipina wife 2 years ago. I originally purchased this to learn Tagalog while we were dating! I'd listen on my drive to and from work. Lessons are accurate and great! I learned so much! Hidden gem right here!

great place to start
I live here in the Philippines and have never thought to much about learning tagalog. This program really has sparked a fire to learn. After 4 lessons I find myself picking up on what the locals are saying. I have been exposed to Tagalog for awhile but I think this would have been great for me 2 years ago when I moved here.

too fast and cant rewind
i have to /agree with someone else's review. i bought the first version in 2007. the manual with the CD wasnt relevant, but a dictionary at best.not being able to rewind the lesson is very painful. i had to repeat the same lessons over and over again (and over again!) because of the speed the male and female are speaking at so fast. the only thing i can think of is to make mp3 files and replay at a slow speed. the whole point was to use as a CD in the car which having to rewind constantly from the beginning while driving should be considered a hazardi tried to learn but just called it quits because of those two reasons! inow theres a part two follow up version in 2017 ten years later at $300 dollars when part 1 is $88. whats going on Pimsleur?? also what is the difference between this and the white/blue boxed CDs on Amazon?

Disappointed
In the very first lesson, the English speaker would say everything nice and slow, then the Tagalog speaker would say it just as fast as he could and half the time he sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. It was actually kind of funny but not really a very good selling point on learning the language.

Simply amazing
These lessons have helped me a lot in learning Tagalog. I'm about a quarter of the way through everything, but The Pimsleur Approach already has me learning at an advanced rate, and answering questions correctly, and intuitively. I would recommend The Pimsleur Approach to anyone traveling, or who just wants to learn a new language.

The CDs and the subsequent booklet do not match. ...
The CDs and the subsequent booklet do not match. When I looked at the words in the 1st lesson.. they were completely different from the first lesson on the CD.. Very hard to get all the words on the cd when the book does not coincide with the cd.

Awesome
Very helpful in learning Tagalog! After only a few lessons, I was able to pick up on some of the things my grandparents were saying! I am giving this four stars because although it says it comes with a workbook, I was not able to access it because this was purchased through Amazon, not Pimsleur. I did read some reviews, though, and some of them do say that the workbook does not correspond with the audio lessons.
