I was totally afraid to use this on my gas stove. I mean, it's glass, will it really not explode? But true to it's claim, it works perfectly right on the stovetop. I usually only make one cup of tea at a time, which is not enough water to steep the tea directly in the pot because the tea infuser sits to high. I have however, made several servings at once using looseleaf tea and steaping it directly in the pot, and guess what...perfect tea! Really, I love this pot! It's functional and gorgeous. Just make sure you use only distilled or purified water in it, otherwise it will get spots and mineral build up and cause you to have to spend your valuable time trying to make it look pretty again instead of just leisurely sitting around sipping tea.

Good if you consume tea at expert level. look beautiful and class. Resist minor heat like my tea pot warmer. never tried anything else. Only four stars because when removing the filter with the tea once it is brewed at the right level, the lid does not fit anymore. I have to use the lid from another of my teapot. It is a silly mistake in the design though. So think about it before you buy it: either you do not remove the filter (overbrewed tea) or you have to have another lid.

The diffuser isn't a mesh screen poorly assembled, it's a high quality stainless steel single piece, nowhere for residual tea pieces to get stuck. Large capacity, nice handle and spout, I love it

I don't actually use it for tea, but to pour water for my pour-over coffee setup at work. I can use it in the microwave to heat up my water, and it has excellent pour control. The handle gets a little warm, but not bad at all. See the pictures for scale. I use 16oz of water, and it fills up about half way. I think it is a good size.

It great for the gas stovetop

Excellent teapot - just like described...high quality item with excellent design and usability...my wife loves it...I tried it with our regular teavana tea - and results were pretty good, I also like the way it disassembles for cleaning...definitely a good Pontique product.
