Works on my Subaru
This cable worked perfectly on my 2007 Subaru Outback with FreeSSM and RomRaider logging (not for tuning, that requires an expensive cable). Helped solve my random misfire and low power problem by proving that the oxygen sensor was not responding appropriately.I used an old Windows XP laptop. For the correct driver, search for "CH341SER driver" and download it from Nanjing Qinheng Electronics. The CD that comes with the cable was useless. As with many other devices I've purchased recently, the included driver and software was useless. I had to find the correct driver by searching online.

This is one of the worst products I have ever purchased
This is one of the worst productsI have ever purchased. Software supplied will not install on any computer I own and is dated to 2006 model year cars. I downloaded other vag com software including Ross-Tech's lite version. Still no luck. Just a useless cable Don't waste your money or time. I spent hours trying to get it to work, more of a loss than the $12 bucks for the cable.Back to square one. will investigate better options or go to dealer and pay big bucks to hook up my back up camera

Dongle works great with VCDS Lite
For older VW and Audi models/years with KKL interface, not newer CAN. This 3rd-party dongle works great for me with free VCDS Lite downloaded from Ross Tech website on my old laptop with Windows 7 Starter, 32 bit. Read Ross Tech's clear online documentation on what cars work with the old KKL interface and VCDS Lite, and on what you can an cannot do with Lite free or Lite paid/registered.You can do a LOT, either way. Pull and clear most codes, and do things like monitor ATF temp during a change, as I showed in my old u toob vid "O1V ZF Tiptronic transmission fluid & filter change w/ motor oil change Audi A4." I used a similar dongle for years with my older cars and loved what all you can do with free VCDS Lite and a cheap dongle like this. Then I got cars that could NOT work with Lite. So, for my 2011 A3 TDI and 2009 TSI, I had to pay the big bucks for full VCDS and Ross Tech's own dongle. At the time, I was lucky to get an unlimited use deal with their CAN-Only dongle (now discontinued). I gave away my old cheapo dongle when I sold my my 2001 A4, and then didn't have a way to help out someone with an older KKL system where CAN-only doesn't work. So, I picked this up and it has worked well with VCDS Lite. Like all of these cheap dongles, it might seem a bit flimsy, but it works well for me. My cord relief can wiggle around in what seems to be an oversized hole in the OBD II plug housing, and you can see the board and guts move inside the clear plug housing. However, I deliberately jiggled it a bunch while connected to car and laptop, and it does not seem to compromise the electrical connections at all.Glad this one works with at least windows 7, as my last cheap one only worked with XP!Because I was having internet issues on the old laptop - after I had VCDS Lite downloaded - I did use the drivers on the disc that came with this dongle, but ONLY the usb to serial drivers, not their old pirate version of vcds.If you don't want to use the disc at all, you can easily find this same USB to Serial FTDI 409.1 driver online - so your USB port will act as a Serial COM Port with your dongle. Once you have installed the driver, with the dongle plugged into usb port, go to Device Manager, where you should now see Ports COM listed (will show USB unknown device before you have the driver installed). Open that Ports section, and select "USB Serial Port COM#." In the pop-up, select the Port Settings tab, Advanced button, and select an unused port between COM 1 and COM 4 - be sure to save/apply the selection and note it for future use of the dongle (as well as noting which of your physical USB ports you are using). If you can, plug in, now, to your car's OBDII port, with your key turned ON (heater will blow, etc. but car does not need to be running). Then, open VCDS Lite and select Program Options and choose that same COM # you just set in device manager. If you are not plugged in to your car and click "test" you should at least see "Port Status OK" in the pop up to confirm the drivers are working. If you aren't plugged in to car, though, it will also say "Interface: Not Found." That's OK, you will just need to remember to take this step again when you plug in, so you can "Apply" the COM setting in VCDS.Once you've got the Port Status OK and Interface Found, you are connected to the car's ECU, and can refer to Ross Tech's fabulous online resources: VCDS Lite user manual, code details, and forums to walk you through all the free or registered functions.

Works but tricky here's how 05LGT
05 legacy gt. Works but it's a tricky process. 1st tried windows 10 and windows xp wouldn't work. Finally tried windows 7 pro, ran as administrator (the disk drivers everything I could click or run) with ecuflash version 1.28 nothing NEWER won't work works like a charm, go figure I ordered the $200 cable by the time it finally did work the tactrix was on the way. If you run the program in compatibility mode for Windows 7, run your flash program and everything you can as an administrator, try different com ports this should work for you. Good luck keep trying, wake up try again, don't give up. Took me like 3 days but I suck with tech 😬🙄

works okay
The cable works and talks with my VW 2002 jetta but the supplied software has very limited functions. It wants you to register and pay for the Ross-tech software for full usage. I bought the cable to program new keys but that function will ask you to register once it accepts the pin code or it errors out and immobilizes the car for whatever time it is set too which means if it is set for 5 minutes you have to turn the car off and leave the key in it for 5 minutes or if it is set for 8 hours than you have to leave the key in it that long. I ended up using Vagtacho 3.0 to pull the 4 digit (0+ 4 digits) code needed to program the keys in Vag-com but it kept immobilizing the car even with the correct code. I didn't know the Vagtacho could program keys before I bought this cable so in the end I would have been better off just buying the Vagtacho cable and not the Vag-com cable but I would suggest using the Vag-com if you want to do more with your car's ECU but you will have to pay $99 dollars for the software license. My cable seemed to work fine and I don't think it had issues but it may have since it kept causing the immobilizer to go off.
