Does not work on anything other than possibly a small mouse.
I wanted to go with this kind of trap for the obvious reason. In concept it is more humane than poison or a spring trap.The problem is the opening and the way it balances.My problem was with rats. The problem with this trap is the opening is to small. As the rat attempts to enter the trap to get to the bait, peanut butter, they tip the trap and the door closes before they are even in the trap.Just a side note: Humane is humane. Even if this trap did work the way it was intended, there are no vent holes. Which means if you were able to trap something, mouse or rat, it could sweat to death or die of suffocation before being removed.The second problem was the weight of the bait, again I was using peanut butter. There is a small cup shaped thing molded in to the end cap that comes off. After putting a small amount of PB in this cup it was too much weight to keep the trap balanced enough to keep the opposite end open where the rat enters the trap. I had to use a counterbalance to get it to stay open.Bottom line, I have to give this trap a thumbs down.I have since resorted to the adhesive type trap and I am 4 for 4. (4 traps = 4 rats) Problem resolved.

Worked perfect caught 2 mice in a matter of 6 hours with peanut butter used as bait!!
It worked beautifully for me. Somehow 2 little mice found their way into our kitchen, and it took them 6 hours to get bold enough to try and explore the nice peanut butter smell coming from this dark tunnel. The trap just did its job, and shut the door on them.Took the whole thing out a bit away form home near a vacant lot and let them go. Kids are so happy I didn't kill the thing. Wife is happy there was nothing gross to deal with.

They work
They work well. Have caught 2 mice so far. Got them to use in the basement. I like that it’s easy to clean with the back coming off and that the trap door flips up instead of flipping down to set the trap. What I don’t like is you can’t see what you’ve trapped and you just can’t see inside. Other thank that it’s done a great job.

Not made to work
This item is too heavy to set up. Once the bait is put in (small amount) the mouse trap won't stand up and snaps it shut every time I try to set it up. I tried to set it up using something to make it stand. Today I checked it again, and the peanut butter was not there anymore, but neither was a mouse. I purchased a few of a similar type last year or the year before, and they were lighter. They stood up easily and worked. I caught the mice and let them go easily. If the seller sends me a refund, I will update this review.

Easy to Use!
I love this product. It's far more humane than other mouse traps. Now with this tool I can catch mice and release them in the farm field next door. I feel better releasing them to their natural habitat. I'm an animal lover, and this trap puts my mind at ease. Would recommend!

Getting it Done!
Bought these for my son who lives in a wooded area in an older home. Landlord ... well... They are working out great. Just make sure to put them on a flat level surface as they are designed for the mouse to go to the end up the trap making it move downward while the back moves upward creating the door to shut - thus trapping the mouse.

Easy and effective
Until I could figure out where mice were getting in, I used these great little humane traps. I caught mice every day. They are easy to use and clean. I ran water through them after each use. They are the right size for little mice.

Too small for rats. Description is misleading.
The trap is much too small for a full grown rat to fit in. This is only for mice. Will be returning.
