GD123381 Russco-Solar Gazing Ball LED Insert

I don't understand the bad reviews that this product has received. It works just fine, glowing for most of the night after a day's sunshine. It runs less after a cloudy day but that is to be expected. And MINE DID INCLUDE A BATTERY, AAA NICKEL-CADMIUM RECHARGEABLE.Installation was easy, though my gazing ball has lacked a rubber cap on the end since I bought it years ago. I was able to secure the LED light assembly with duct tape.UPDATE: It is now June 2019. My Russco lll GD123381 quit lighting up a couple of nights ago. The reason was simple: the battery had developed corrosion on its bottom side, probably due to moisture (my gazing ball is mounted atop a fountain). A few swipes with fine sandpaper down to clean metal and it lit right up again.

Packing for this product was very poor. We ordered a Gazing ball and this Led insert. When we opened box found insert at bottom of box with one broken flap. I was able to temp it back together to insert it in the Gazing ball it worked. Was real disappointing as this was a anniversary gift for my wife. But my disappointment went away when night time came and the led insert was glowing and still worked.

This little device is amazing. I had previously put a whole string of solar lights in my gazing globe to light it and that was a real pain. This just slides in the bottom cap and provides just the right amount of light. I was shocked that it even worked because I did not think it would charge with the solar cell inside the globe. Works great!

Nice glow works even on overcast days. They seem to only work for about a year. If they lasted longer I might have put more stars.

I put this in my globe later in the afternoon and it lit up that same night. Looks beautiful and works great. I was a little concerned because the plastic packaging was a bit crushed (I think the postal person smashed it to get it to fit in my mailbox) but it worked perfectly.I few of the reviews said theirs did not have the adjustable 'wings' to keep the light from going fully into the globe. Mine does. Also, a recent review stated none of their 4 ever worked (?) Did they not turn it on?

I purchased this solar light a few weeks ago, to pair with my 10" mosaic globe.First off, the light doesn't come with a battery. The description is a bit misleading in that it says you don't need a battery. This led me to believe that the light had a built in battery. Anyways, when you look at the price, be sure to include the purchase of a battery as the price of rechargeable batteries are more expensive than standard batteries. When you add it all up, this light is pretty expensive for the quality. I think I'll be doing good if it lasts a year.One other thing, if you don't have a bottom cap for your globe, you'll need to make something to hold the light up inside your globe. The solar panels aren't strong enough to hold the weight of the light when extracted as I was hoping.With the new battery, the light does work and it lights the globe adequately. It has added a nice element to my garden. I'm giving 2 stars mainly due to the price. Had I known, I'd have went with a different solution.

I am impressed by how bright the light is in my blue glass ball and that it gives off light for such a long time. The area that it is located is somewhat shady, but it still fully charges in the number of hours that the sun is on it.

Purchased 2 of these at a retailer 2 years ago.. Both worked perfectly. Still working but starting to get dim.Purchased 1 initially this year from this seller. Worked perfectly. Ordered 2 more, neither worked. I realize I am reporting this a little late for refund but wanted to report & make other buyers beware. While we expect to obtain working items for out money, we have to keep in mind that this type of item is very delicate. I should have checked it out when recv'd rather than waiting until I was ready to use it. Also sometimes these do not work in balls that they should work in because the glass is too thick. FABULOUS when it works.
