USB Connections
This item has added very much valuable for my purchase. It has added extra usb connections to my MacBook pro since it only has two USB A male type connections. The fact that it has its own power source and very easy to setup and has been functional since I purchased this well over a year or more.

Recommended: LEDS not too bright, button up=off/down=on, compact metal body, USB3 speeds tested fine
I have an older KATUMO 4+1 USB3 hub with LEDs for each port but 3x of the LEDs completely failed. Also, the older KATUMO turns ports on with a click button: tap = on, press and hold 2secs = off. For my old hubs ports with dead LEDs, it is hard to tell if they are on or off since the buttons give no indication as they just click. Note, when all the LEDs worked, they were very bright. The new RSHTECH RSH-516 USB3 Hub has buttons that extend above the hub slightly, when a port button is pressed down it turns the port on and locks at a lower level almost flush with the hub's body. Pressing the button down again will release the button back to it's higher level and turn the port off. What's really nice about the new RSHTECH buttons is *if* the LEDs fail, the buttons will physically indicate their state: pressed in = on, out = off.The RSHTECH LEDs are not bright at all unlike my older hub. If a USB cable is blocking my direct view of the LED, I can't see the blue light. This is what I want, a just bright enough LED for each port. Also, the RSHTECH has an aluminum body that is much smaller than my older 4+1 hub's plastic body. The RSHTECH also has a detachable USB3 data cable so I can use longer cables or a right angle cable if needed.I did some basic USB3 data speed tests using a USB drive and phone comparing a direct port connection and connection via the RSHTECH. The speeds were within 1%.Overall, this is just what I wanted: compact, LEDs that work and are not too bright, and buttons that indicate the power state.OLD HUBKATUMO USB3 Hub 4x data ports + 1x smart charging port with 3amp Power Adapterlooks very similar to Atolla Hub https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083XTKV8Vpurchased 2018.10button tap = onbutton press and hold 2seconds = offplastic bodyNEW HUBRSHTECH RSH-516 USB3 Hub 4x data ports with 2amp Power Adapterhttps://www.amazon.com/RSHTECH-Splitter-Portable-Aluminum-Individual/dp/B07HMZSRS7purchased 2024.091st button press locks button to lower position = on2nd button press releases button to higher position = offaluminum body

I Was Very Happy With This Hub Until...
The build quality on this hub is excellent. It's heavy enough to not tip over with several cables plugged in, but not too heavy to carry in my laptop bag. I particularly like being able to switch ports on and off, which is one of the reasons I bought it. I had no problems simultaneously accessing my printer, scanner, external DVD writer, iPhone, Logitech headphones, and memory sticks. I'd have given this hub a solid 5 stars until I upgraded my headphones to a set of JBL Quantum 400s. It periodically dropped its connection at inopportune moments, requiring the headphones be unplugged and plugged back in, even if I shut all the other ports off, and regardless of whether this hub was connected or disconnected from its separate power supply. While this is clearly due to the connectivity design of the JBL headphones, it doesn't happen with my non-switched, non-powered Anker hub. Since of all my USB-connected devices I use my headphones most, I had to go back to the Anker. Meanwhile, this RSHTECH hub sits in my laptop bag awaiting a less challenging application. I don't take my JBL headphones with me on the road, and I know this hub works with every other USB device I own.

Finally! A USB hub that outputs more than 900 mA per port!
I have a device that requires more than 900 mA to work properly, and I've been struggling to find a USB 3.0 hub that supports data transfer AND outputs more than 900 mA. I asked the seller about this, and they wrote me a 10 paragraph novel as a response saying this one can do up to 2.4 A (2400 mA). True to their word, it works! I've already sent back three other hubs that claimed to output more than 900 mA, but they all only did 900 mA. Thank you for making such a great product and providing such wonderful customer service!

selectable powered hub works well
Powered USB hub works great with the Rocksmith instrument cable if you are having problems with the game registering the cable.
