Not as good as the PC version, but worth owning
I'm writing my review as a comparison between the DS version of the game and the PC Game of the Year Edition. I've finished Adventure Mode and have completed all of the mini games, puzzles, and survival modes, but have not been able to try multiplayer.I love playing on a touch screen. It's very quick and easy to pick up sun and coins, and to place plants. However, the smaller screen makes the game more difficult- the plants are crowded closer together so that it's harder to see which plant is where, or to tell whether a given space even has a plant on it at all. It's very difficult in this version to judge how damaged a Pumpkin is. Even the original game has some issues with plants being obscured by other plants or by menus and buttons, as well as menus and buttons being obscured by plants, and in this version it's even worse. For example, you can't tell what the plants in the top row of the Zen Garden are "asking for" in their speech bubbles, because the top menu completely blocks them. The sound and graphics have of course been scaled down for the DS. The sound effects can be a little harsh and annoying at times, but the music sounds pretty good. The plants and zombies are even cuter when simplified, so no complaints there, other than the plants being crowded together as I mentioned earlier. Oh, and the abnormally large Dancing Zombie- I guess the designers didn't want to lose all the detail in his 'fro.A few minigames are missing, and a couple of new ones have been added. The new games are fun but nothing special. The top screen of the DS is mainly just used for the level progress bar, but has some cute zombie and raven animations if you can spare enough attention to watch. Some of the plants and zombies perform a little differently in this version. A missile from the Cob Cannon seems to take longer to hit. It could be my imagination, but it felt like some of the seeds had a longer delay between plantings. In the PC version, Catapult Zombies advance only after they destroy the plants in the back rows or run out of ammo, but in the DS game they constantly move forward. The game performs fine on most of the Adventure levels and minigames, but slows down considerably once there are large numbers of zombies and plants onscreen. This makes Endless Survival nearly impossible to play on the DS. It also doesn't seem to save your progress on Endless Survival if you leave the game. Note: I have the DS Lite- I don't know whether the other versions of the DS have more computing power. If you're new to Plants vs Zombies, I highly recommend picking up the PC version instead. If you're already a fan, the DS game may be a little disappointing, but it's still worth owning a portable version that you can play in waiting rooms or when traveling. Save Endless Survival for your PC, though.

Plants Vs. Zombies DS
Nice to have a physical version of this classic in the collection. Plays pretty well on 3DS with the touchscreen/stylus.

I Love It!
(I purchased this for my son and the following is his review)I Love it!I have Plants vs. Zombies for the computer and loved it so much I decided to get it for the DS. It's the exact same game but for on the go which is really nice for long travels. I will describe what I think of it in a few different sections.Graphics - I don't need the very best in graphics to enjoy a game, so they were not a problem for me. In fact I think the graphics are actually pretty good for a transition from the PC to the DS. And it looks much better in person as compared to videos of it on the internet. So if you aren't someone who has to have top notch graphics it won't be a problem.Game Play - It is the classic PvZ game play. Defend your house from zombies with plants. Fun and simple. The only complaint I have for this section is that when you have a rather full garden with a huge wave of zombies it lags noticeably. This isn't a problem really unless you want to play Survival endless. Otherwise it's fine.Sound - The soundtrack is the same tunes as the PC version but with a retro vibe. I loved it just the same though. If you don't like it just turn the volume off; not really a problem there.Miscellaneous - Sometimes it's hard to notice the silver coins that zombies drop. Not really the end of the world, but somewhat of a nuisance if you need cash in the game. Also the location of the shovel tool is a problem if you accidently hit it and dig up the plant right above it. Once again this isn't a deal breaker. The final boss is much more difficult on the DS version as compared to the computer (in my opinion of course) but it wasn't impossible, so it was nice challenge. In the end I definitely recommend this game for new people to the franchise and veteran players who want to take it on the go. The inclusion of new minigames, vs. mode, and achievements also gives the player more to do and some challenges.

My son loves this game!
I bought this for my 4 year old because he has only been able to play this game on my phone and I don’t let him do that very often. This has been amazing for him to be able to play on his DS more often. He loves this game!

A simple but addictive game.
I bought this game due to the decent reviews on it and now I know why. The concept is nothing extraordinary. You have your house on the left side of the screen with a big lawn on front and hordes of Zombies come at you from the street across. Your job is to keep the zombies from reaching your house and " eating your brains" lol. The game for the most part is executed with your stylus which is cool since you can play it while sipping a cup of coffee. You have to plant flowers and various weapons on your lawn to fight off the undead.( which are rather cute looking zombies to boot especially the disco zombies lol ) You need flowers, sunflowers to be exact to create I suppose the photosynthesis effect. The flowers bloom sunlight which you must accumulate. The more sunlight, the more points you have to buy and set up your arsenal. Also there are several cool little mini games and extras like the Zombatar where you design your own zombie. There's also a puzzle side game and a survival mode where you see how long you last as a crap load of zombies come your way. Additionally the music is cute also. Graphics are great but mind you its an animated, cartoon like effect which is done purposely and looks great on the DS. I enjoy it as well as my young daughters. Good, entertaining games on the DS are few and far apart but this game is very addictive and entertaining. Even the packaging is cute with its zombie bite marks. I highly recommend it.

Addictively Awesome!
I had been playing the PC version of this game for a long time now, and couldn't wait for it to be available for the DS so I could take it with me on long journeys etc. I just received my copy today and I can't stop playing! Fans of the original game won't be disappointed; it is just the same but in a smaller format. There are also extra bonus games and a 2-player version (which the PC one doesn't have) where one player can be the plants and the other player the zombies. You use the stylus to pick the seeds, sunshine, coins etc and the sound effects are just the same. If I have to make a criticism, it is that the excellent original music does sound a bit tinny but that is only a minor issue and doesn't really detract from the overall enjoyment of the game.Totally worth waiting for; will recommend without hesitation. Simply the best PC/Nintendo game I have ever played.

Me encanta
Es mejor que jugar con la aplicación, además cuenta con características especiales que no aparecen en el celular o tablet, es muy divertido y el tiempo pasa volando. También me gusta que en la pantalla de arriba puedes ver cómo se van aproximando los zombies.
