Collector's Guide to the Tourmaline Group (Collector's Guide To... (Schiffer))
J**.
This Tourmaline Guide left out much of California's Magnificent Specimens and other pertinent details.
This is a simple worked over hash of the book, "The Tourmaline Group", by Richard Dietrich. Although photos of the rarer species are depicted, there are limited photos of the most magnificent of the southern California Elbaites. This leads me to think that the author only used photos of specimens in his own collection. Quite a shame. He also seemed to misunderstand the Liddacoatite species. I'm sure that with further reading I will uncover some useful tidbits, but this author leaves out so much about this wonderful mineral that it makes be believe that he really is not that much interested in the subject.

Good product
This is another part of the Schiffer Earth science Monographs and is accurate and a good basic guide for studying more on tourmaline. Great photos and a good variety of various types of tourmaline. It will be useful for collectors and those interested in knowing more about this species.

Not recommended.
Boring writer and pics of low grade specimens, make this book very disappointing.
